Captain Madam

“Captain, do
you like girls,” asked the Major.

“Girls, sir?”

“Yes,
girls.”

In Captain
Bixler’s day, there had been no

 courses in psychology at Virginia Military
Institute

and the
question seemed pretty silly.

 He stuttered a reply. ‘Certainly so, sir,—

doesn’t
everyone? I—I mean

A slight
smile hovered around the Major’s

mouth before
he apologetically interrupted.

“Captain, we
don’t mean to pry into your private

affairs, but
this assignment is very important

and calls
for a—well, a certain type

of man.”

At this.
point in the interview, Bixler became

even more
uneasy. He suddenly became certain

that he was
not going to like the assignment

he was about
to be given.

For once in
his military career, the Captain

was
absolutely right!
